Mission Partners in the UK

Tom and Anna Cunliffe, The Oakes

The Oakes is a Christian activity centre offering action-packed holidays for young people aged 8 to 18 - and a place where many hear the gospel for the first time.

Tom joined the team in 2024, bringing ten years of experience as a primary school teacher in Leeds. He's being equipped to lead at a new Oakes centre - learning the ropes behind the scenes as well as programming and speaking on camps.

Anna is an anaesthetist who came to faith at The Oakes as a teenager and served on Impact Team in 2007–2008. The family live in Leeds, and together with their three children - Finn, Rowan and Erin - they love getting outside and exploring. The Cairngorms is a firm family favourite.

Scott Hall Church

SCott Hall LogoScott Hall Church is a warm, all-age church gathered in the heart of the Scott Hall estate in Leeds. With around fifty members from all walks of life and a range of nationalities, they have a strong heart for their local community and a desire to see their neighbours come to know Jesus.

Redeemer has close ties with Scott Hall Church, and Brad Balmer - one of our elders - gives two days a week to support their work. It's a partnership we're grateful for, and a tangible expression of our commitment to gospel witness across the city.

If you're in the area, the church would love to meet you. Their Connect all-age service runs on Sundays at 12:00, with tea and biscuits from 11:30.

Crossway Church, East Leeds

Crossway LogoCrossway Church is a church plant serving the people and communities of East Leeds. It was planted out of Redeemer in September 2025 - a natural expression of our long-standing commitment to seeing new churches take root across the city. Redeemer itself began as a church plant fifteen years ago, so sending others out is something close to our DNA.

Over a number of years, members of Redeemer moved and settled in Crossgates and the surrounding areas, and others already living locally joined them. Out of that gradual gathering, Crossway was born. Alex Passmore, one of our pastors, was sent out to lead the new church family. We're excited to see what God does through Crossway, and we're cheering them on!

Mission Partners Further Afield

The De la Hoyde Family, France

Del and Laura have a long connection with Redeemer - they helped to plant Grace Church in Boroughbridge at the same time as Redeemer itself was being planted. Our friendship has lasted ever since! In 2015 they were sent to France, and have been serving in the disadvantaged east of Paris ever since.

Del helps lead their church in the 20th arrondissement, with a particular focus on biblical counselling and one-to-one ministry, and is actively sharing the gospel with people in the local area. Laura runs an evangelistic literacy ministry among immigrant women. Elsa, Jethro, Zac and Owen are all involved in the Christian Union movement, leading evangelistic Bible studies and activities among their peers.

We're grateful for the De La Hoydes and pray regularly for their work in one of Europe's great cities.

Mission partners supported through Agape UK

Agape logo coral RGBWe support overseas missions in the Middle East through Agape UK. The hope that Jesus offers transcends culture and nation states; it has the potential to bring healing and peace, on a global scale, that nothing else in the world can! In the Gospel of Matthew in the Bible, Jesus’ very last words to His followers were an appeal for them to share this hope, not just with their friends and family around them, but with the whole world!

Planning your Visit

New to Redeemer

We're really glad you're thinking of visiting!

Here's everything you need to know before you do — no surprises, no pressure.

Finding us
PC outside

We meet at St Chad's Parish Centre on Otley Road and our service starts at 4:00pm. We'd suggest arriving around 3:45pm - not because you'll miss anything, but because we put the kettle on early and it's a genuinely nice way to ease in!

Someone from our Welcome Team will be there to say hello when you arrive. Look for the blue lanyards.

Parking is available in the Parish Centre car park. If it's full, there's free street parking on Drummond Road, Drummond Avenue, Hollin Road, Hollin Mount and Weetwood Lane.

DSC00907 (1)Accessibility: There's wheelchair access, a hearing loop and a translation link. Just let the Welcome Team know when you arrive and they'll help you get settled. We have disabled toilets in the main foyer. Fidget toys are available to anyone who wants them, a number within our church family bring their own ear defenders - and it's completely fine to step outside for a breath of air at any point.

What's the service actually like?

Relaxed - but with a genuine invitation to meet God.

It runs for about an hour and a half and flows something like this: a warm welcome, sung worship led by our band, church news and then a sermon that's rooted in the Bible but connected to real life. Towards the end there's an opportunity to take communion, some time to reflect, and we finish with more sung worship. There's an optional invitation to receive prayer, and... more refreshments!

You won't be put on the spot, asked to do anything you're not comfortable with or made to feel like an outsider.

gathering

About communion - Towards the end of the service we share a simple act of remembrance together: a small piece of bread and a small cup of wine. Individual portions are laid out for people to collect and take to their seats. If you're a follower of Jesus, you're warmly welcome to join in. If you're still exploring, simply stay seated — nobody will notice and nobody will mind.

Bringing children?

Brilliant — we love having families with us!

Children start the service with the adults for the welcome and songs, then after about 15 minutes they're free to head to their own groups. First time? You'll need to register them as part of our safeguarding policy, so allow a few extra minutes when you arrive.

We have a great programme lined up for kids:

  • Creche (6 months to 2 years)
  • Pre-school (2.5-4 years)
  • Redeemer Kids (4-8 years)
  • Next Step Kids (8-11 years)
  • Redeemer Youth (11-16 years)

Each group has its own flavour, but expect Bible stories, games, music, craft, drama and plenty of fun. Please collect your children as soon as the service ends.
